HP OfficeJet Pro 276dw, several printer firms are still attempting to break into the small and home office market with inkjet printing. HP was a forerunner, and it is OfficeJet Pro printers have carved out a niche for themselves, particularly where images are part of the print mix.

The HP OfficeJet Pro 276dw MFP is impressive in that it provides comparable speed and paper handling to a similarly cost laser MFP, making it a serious competitor as a color laser MFP alternative for a micro or small office or workgroup.

Design and feature

HP OfficeJet Pro 276dw is a large, strong machine with well-judged curves that soften its square-cut appearance. This method favors the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) at the top, which is a large, duplex unit capable of scanning both sides of a page in a single operation.

The right-hand end of the front panel features a flip-up 109mm touchscreen with room for good-sized icons in its menus, and the screen is sensitive and easy to navigate around even though it doesn’t support gestures.

There’s a single 250-sheet paper tray at the bottom of the front panel, but you’ll have to swap paper to print images because there’s no separate photo tray. However, a second, 250-sheet multi-purpose tray is available as an option. Printed papers are placed on the lid of the normal paper tray, which features a pull-out extension, providing the machine with a huge desktop footprint.

Connection and driver

There’s a single memory card slot that accepts SD and Memory Stick cards, as well as a USB connector on the front panel that doesn’t enable PictBridge connections from digital cameras. The machine offers USB, 10/100 Ethernet, and wireless connectivity, as well as complete fax capabilities, including phone line and third-party handset ports.

Instead of copying drivers from the supplied CD, HP prefers to enroll you in its ePrint Centre and get drivers from there. This ensures that you have the most up-to-date drivers and support software, including IRIS OCR.

This HP MFP also has mobile printing capabilities. You can print from the cloud if you connect to the Internet via a network connection, such as Ethernet or Wi-Fi. You can also use AirPrint to print from iOS devices if your network has a Wi-Fi access point.

HP OfficeJet Pro 276dw can print, scan, and fax (even over the network), and it may also be used as a standalone copier/fax machine. It also allows you to scan to a USB memory stick, print from a USB memory stick, and print from or scan to a memory card.
